In civilian industry, Monty served as the Executive Director of Business Development for the Air Force Product Support Portfolio at Boeing Global Services. In this role, he spearheaded transformative business development campaign initiatives across Boeing’s Global Services US Air Force portfolio. Partnering seamlessly across various divisions, Monty elevated the presence of key platforms and secured strategic wins for a multitude of programs including the KC-46 Pegasus, C-17 Globemaster, F-15 Eagle/Strike Eagle, T-7 Red Hawk, A-10 Thunderbolt, F-22 Raptor, B-52 Stratofortress, KC-135 Stratotanker, and VC-25A/B Presidential Airlift programs, among others. Additionally, Monty played a pivotal role in critical training and Next Generation Product Support initiatives aimed at creating growth opportunities for Boeing platforms in both international and domestic markets.

Monty’s professional journey was forged over a remarkable 26-year career in the United States Air Force, where he embarked on a trajectory that encompassed various leadership roles of increasing responsibility. Commencing as a program manager in acquisition, Monty transitioned seamlessly into a mobility pilot, leveraging both skill sets to cultivate expertise in operational flight test before assuming command and leadership roles. His tenure saw him manage critical programs such as the Spacelift Range Communications Segment at Los Angeles AFB, later honing his program management and business acumen as a Program Integrator for the AMRAAM Missile Program Defense Contract Management Command at Hughes and Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson, before taking on programs like SPARROW, TOMAHAWK, and later Exo-Atmospheric Kill Vehicle. Monty’s extensive flight experience includes accumulating over 2,500 hours in the KC-135, C-17, C-130, CV-22, and KC-46 aircraft, earning him the prestigious designation of Command Pilot, alongside roles as an instructor and evaluator.

In command, Monty played instrumental roles in overseeing complex operations, including leading a network of classified facilities as the Senior Director of the National Assessment Group, a Department of Defense field activity supporting specialized clients. Later, as the Vice Wing Commander for the 92d Air Refueling Wing at Fairchild AFB, WA, Monty led a nuclear-tasked air refueling organization comprised of 44 aircraft and nearly 3,000 military members, civilian, and contractor personnel, providing host installation support for 18 tenant organizations and a Washington Air National Guard associate organization to achieve national recognition as the top strategic aircraft operations organization in the country, garnering two back-to-back Omaha Trophy wins for the first consecutive award in history.

His leadership was further showcased in forward-deployed combat zones, where he served ten times, earning commendations such as the Bronze Star for his outstanding service. He forward deployed twice for year-long, ground-based Air Advisor roles in both Afghanistan and Iraq, helping build their Air Force capabilities and gaining significant Foreign Military Sales experience. He served as the Chief of Staff for NATO Air Training Command and was among the first to lead in a forward air unit for operations following 9/11. In his final deployment, Monty served as the Director of Mobility Forces (DIRMOBFOR) for Air Force Central Command, overseeing over 350 air mobility aircraft supporting operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen, and enhancing strategic partnerships with regional allies.

With a background in flight test, Monty assumed pivotal roles such as the Director of Operations for the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center at Edwards AFB where he led operational flight test for the CV-22, B-2, B-52, C-17, C-130, and KC-46 aircraft, as well as the U-2 and MQ-9. He later served as the Commander of the 412th Flight Test Squadron, Air Force Materiel Command’s only combat-ready flying organization, a worldwide deployable team conducting operations supporting senior Defense officials and test operations managing a $5.4M budget to operate a one-of-a-kind $90M avionics test bed. Monty went on Headquarters Air Mobility Command, where he played a key role in shaping the requirements and source selection efforts for critical programs such as the KC-X, later known as the KC-46. His distinguished military career culminated at Air Mobility Command as the Chief of Acquisition Requirements, where he provided comprehensive, multi-layer portfolio management to 87 senior program and project managers developing requirements to modernize and sustain the world’s most advanced mobility aircraft fleet comprised of 1,071 aircraft and systems, valued at $150B.
